Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the pipe contractor continue installing 30″ CMP storm line and backfilling between manhole structures B1 and B3. The writer observed some CMP joints being connected with metal bands and lag bolts.

The grading contractor continued placing fill for building Lot #66 and placing fill at the pool area. The contractor also began hauling excavated soils from the bridge installation area placing this material in extended slope green space area designated for rockfill. The writer observed off road dump truck traffic on subbase stone in place at Nature Walk Boulevard between sanitary sewer manholes #4 and 9. The contractor was advised that the continuing traffic is breaking down the subbase stone and will require repair measures to complete subbase prep. The writer performed depth checks on the in-place base stone and areas observed averaged 4″ to 5″ of base stone in place which is starting to break up and having slight to moderate movement under the off-road dump truck traffic. The contractor was reminded with these depth checks that the 4″ to 5″ thickness will not hold up under this construction traffic. The client was also notified, and it was agreed to continue hauling and that repairs will be made at a later date. The drilling contractor (Advance) was on site also and continued drilling at Lots #47 and 48 using two drill rigs. Drill logs are attached.

The water line contractor also continued installing 8″ ductile iron water line between manholes #7 and 9.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
