Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor continue undercutting at the deceleration lane as recommended to the depths of -3′ to -3.5′ removing saturated subgrade soils with recommendations to replace with additional GAB stone. Due to high moisture contents of underlying residual soils, the recommendation using GAB was made to be placed in a three-foot thickened first lift compacting with small equipment and capping off with remaining depth of the base stone compacted with sufficient moisture using a vibratory smooth drum roller to 98%. The contractor was to continue undercutting toward the drive entrance and call for a proof-roll when completed. The defined areas of undercut were previous established by a proof- roll observed previously by another representative of AS Engineering and Consultant.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
