Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Today’s activities consisted of ongoing embankment construction within the designated street area. The contractor continued placing structural fill and compacting in lifts. At the time of inspection, the fill depth had reached approximately 6 feet. An additional 11 feet of fill will be required to achieve final subgrade elevation. Material is being placed in approximately 16-inch loose lifts prior to compaction.

Compaction testing was performed using a nuclear density gauge at multiple locations within the active work zone. All compaction testing performed in this area met the specified compaction requirements in accordance. Moisture contents were within acceptable range and no soft or yielding areas were observed at the time of testing.

Continued testing will be performed as additional lifts are placed.
