Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (NG Grading) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill.

The contractors finished preparation of the deceleration lane subgrade. The lane was proof-rolled with Mr. Scott Wood of Pulte, Matt, and the paving crew present. The proof-roll was performed with a loaded tandem truck. The proof-roll showed signs of pumping located along the curb and in front of the drainage structures. It was recommended to excavate the pumping areas by approximately 1 foot deep and replace with GAB. Probe rod testing was performed following removal of pumping soils down to a stable surface. The contractor began placing GAB in the lane and compacting with a smooth drum roller.

The wall crew continued installation of retaining wall #2. The soil lifts were installed in 8-to-12-inch lifts and compacted with a combination of a trench roller and a vibrating sheep-foot roller. Density testing was performed, and test results were provided to the contractor. The grading crew is placing fill on the slopes located around the retaining wall.
