Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Crew continued backfilling operations for Lots #50, 51, 52, 53, 17, and 18. The backfill material was placed in lifts of approximately 6–8 inches thickness and spread evenly using a crawler bulldozer. Each lift was then compacted using both a sheep-foot roller and a Caterpillar 815 compactor.
In the neighboring Buford area, the crew continued pipeline and trench operations. Backfilling was performed using No. 57 stone for the first 20 foot section followed by backfilling the next 20 feet with fill. The placed material was compacted using a jumping jack compactor within the trench. In addition, excavation activities continued using a hydraulic excavator equipped with a rock grinder attachment to break through rock. The excavation progressed to a depth of approximately 10 to 12 feet, with a trench width of about 8 to 10 feet and extending to a length of approximately 20 lineal feet, as required for ongoing installation work.
