Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative visited the site to re-observe compacting efforts at building Lots #41 and 42. The compacted in-place fill soils were observed by probing using a rounded end steel rod and proof-rolling using an off-road dump truck. The proof-roll and probing indicated that placed fill was still above optimum moisture content and compaction efforts were estimated to be 92% to 94% in most areas. The in-place fill soils have been plowed for three days to lower moisture contents but still remain above optimum moisture content. The remaining fill depth is averaged to be 8′ and it was recommended to the grading contractor if additional drier fill soils could be obtained and that the fill placement be continued placing 8-to-10-inch lifts compacted without vibration. However, placing additional wet soils isn’t recommended over existing fill soils. Will re-observe this area after an additional 1.5 feet of compacted fill is placed.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
