Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (Lewis Contracting) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill.

The contractor continued placing fill over the sewer line on site. Soils used for this area have been mixed with GAB to bring the moisture content down to within optimum moisture. A lab proctor was performed on a grab sample from this material. Density testing was performed and test results were provided to the contractor. It appears the contractor is spreading approximately 1-foot lifts over the pipeline and compacting with a combination of a trench roller, jumping jack, and a vibrating sheep-foot roller. ASEC met with the site inspector Mr. Harris (Ascension Engineers and Consultants) to discuss the density tests results.
