Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day:

Upon arrival at the entrance and main roadway location (see photos) of the Green Farm residential development (Landin), it was observed that a water leak from an existing water line had occurred on a previous day beneath the proposed roadway entrance. The water line had reportedly been relocated prior to this observation; however, this work was not observed.

The remaining subgrade soils were found to be saturated (see photos) and unable to support the construction of the roadway entrance due to instability. Excavation was performed to remove the compromised material using a Caterpillar 313F excavator and a Caterpillar 285 skid steer. Approximately 6 feet of soft soils were removed (see photos). The work was carried out by Lee of Carmichael Contracting.

Following excavation, the exposed area was backfilled with Graded Aggregate Base (GAB), which was then placed and compacted (see photo) using a Caterpillar ride-on vibratory sheepsfoot compactor (CP7).

Work was not completed on this date. No further observations were made.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
