Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative observed subgrade and subbase preparation at Unit 4, Phase 1B. The subgrade soils at the cul-de-sac were observed by proof-rolling using a loaded tandem dump truck loaded with 18.36 tons. The subgrade soils observed at the cul-de-sac and roadway appeared stable under traffic except a small, isolated area in front of a double wing inlet that was recommended to clip -6″ and replace with additional base stone. Also recommended to sprinkle water over the existing subgrade to prevent from sliding under traffic. The contractor also continued placing contract stone and compacting on the lower half of the roadway.

The pipe contractor also continued installing 24″ CMP storm line C at the Unit 4, Phase 2 detention pond where hard rock was encountered. An attempt was made to hammer the rock in place. A recommendation was made by the writer to raise th storm line elevation instead of blasting.

The grading contractor continued hauling shot rock and placing in compacted lifts for Unit 4, Phase 3 at elevations 923 to 900 (lower end).

The blasting contractor performed a blast shot today at the cul-de-sac on Unit 4, Phase 2.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
