Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (Lewis Contracting) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The contractor requested ASEC to visually inspect a topsoil stockpile area to determine if more unsuitable soils need to be excavated. This area is a structural area. Upon inspection, it appeared that there was still a presence of topsoil due to dark colored soil with a large amount of organics present. Probe rod testing was performed. The probe rod penetrated the ground by approximately 1.5 feet to 2.5 feet in various sections of this area. It was recommended to remove approximately 2.5 feet to 3 feet and to replace with structural fill in 1-foot lifts. The contractor agreed and will contact ASEC once the material has been removed.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
