Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our representative was on site to observe the beginning installation of 36″ RCP storm line to OCS E1 in detention pond located at Unit 3, Phase 13. The contractor had already set headwall structure E0 with No. 57 stone placed 0n filter fabric. The contractor was reminded that rip-rap was required at the headwall. The materials being excavated to install 36″ RCP storm line are unsuitable for backfill replacement. It was recommended to replace unsuitable materials with onsite suitable red clay base soils for the entire length between OCS and headwall extending three feet outside of the anti-seep collars. The writer remained on site observing installation of 36″ RCP storm line which was bedded on suitable residual materials. It was also recommended to bench into existing embankment fill with new backfill soils.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
