As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Crew continued working on Lots #62, 63, 64, and the adjacent roadway area. Fill material was placed in lifts, spread using a crawler bulldozer, and compacted using both a sheep-foot roller and a Caterpillar 815. Density tests were performed, and although a couple of results were close to passing, they failed due to high moisture content and an excessive thick lift placement. Advised the contractor to scarify the surface, aerate and re-compact the material. After reworking, additional compaction was achieved, and subsequent density tests met the required specifications.

At Wall 5, Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) tests were conducted to evaluate the sub-grade strength.

Test 1 (Red Silty Sand Clay):
1st foot – 9 blows, 2nd foot – 11 blows, 3rd foot – 11 blows, 4th foot – 10 blows

Test 2 (Brown Silty Sand Clay):
1st foot – 8 blows, 2nd foot – 9 blows, 3rd foot – 8 blows, 4th foot – 8 blows

At the Buford neighborhood site, the crew installed a tee-connection at the manhole inlet/outlet to connect the pipeline. The pipe was aligned and connected to the manhole using a mechanical coupling connection. 8” PVC sewer line of lineal length of 29 feet was installed and aligned and No.57 stone was placed beneath and around the pipe to provide adequate support and drainage.
