Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by us AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

During today’s site visit, work was observed on a buried pipeline section within an open trench excavation. Formwork consisting of plywood panels and timber bracing were installed around the pipe to facilitate the construction of a cast-in-place concrete encasement. Concrete placement was in progress, with fresh concrete being placed. The trench was excavated in cohesive soil with relatively steep side slopes and no visible shoring at the observed location.

Construction activities were observed along the roadside involving the installation of multiple cast-in-place concrete structures. A total of five units were being constructed. At the observed location, formwork was set in place and reinforcement steel (rebar grid) was installed. A pipe opening/penetration was also noted within the formwork, indicating connection to the stormwater drainage system. Concrete with a specified compressive strength of approximately 3000 psi was placed for the base. The reinforcement appeared to placed as per job specifications for size, spacing and quantity prior to placement.
