Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
On the above date our representative was on site to observe the installation of a french drain system and fill placement as recommended for the north side of the dam embankment, toe of slope. The recommended design was to install a 2 x 2 deep trench with filter fabric in bottom, wrapping No. 57 stone for a total length of eighty lineal feet (80′). The design was modified using the onsite four-foot excavator bucket excavating an 18″ trench with filter fabric placed in the bottom wrapping No. 57 stone. The average depth of in place stone was 18″ wrapped in fabric with 4″ to 6″ of No. 57 stone over top of fabric. The length was extended from 80 to 105 lineal feet continuing east with ground water present. The contractor used two truckloads of No. 57 stone weighing approximately 38 tons. The contractor also began covering the drain system with structure fill using the driest available soil materials on site. The stockpiled materials became too wet for continuing placement, and it was recommended to scarify and aerate stockpiles allowing to dry prior to placing additional structure fill. The contractor also plowed in place fill placed on 4/21/26 allowing to dry.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
