Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (Lewis Contracting) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The contractors excavated out the footing for the concrete wall for the pond. There was ground water seepage observed approximately to 2 to 3 inches deep in a large section of the footing. Probe rod testing was performed and the probe rod indicated very low bearing. DCP testing was then performed. ASEC recommended to excavate approximately 3 to 4 feet in depth and replace with No. 57 stone placed in “compacted” lifts. It was recommended to have the rock onsite before excavation, and to use pumps to manage the ground water below the bottom of the footing. ASEC requested that the contractor notify ASEC when they plan to do this remediation.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
