Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
On the above date our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor continue excavating saturated organic subgrade soils from the toe of slope embankment west of the design spillway. The contractor excavated the materials and replaced with a thickened bridge lift to stabilize the existing saturated subgrades. The writer performed density tests using a Troxler Nuclear model 3430, serial no. 91643. The writer also performed a field proctor on in-place fill materials that were mostly mixed with chert materials. Compaction results appeared suitable as per job specifications. The contractor continued placing additional fill over the tested area as recommended. It was also recommended to place rip rap stone at the discharge area of the installed french drain areas being discharged into a wooded area.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
