Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Upon arrival, it was determined that work had commenced on the commercial site during the previous week without observation by ASEC personnel. The initial elevation prior to fill placement was not proof-rolled in the presence of an ASEC technician. Following a meeting with the on-site grading foreman (Bentley), it was determined that approximately two to three lifts had been placed during the previous week. The finished elevation had not yet been established at the time of observation due to a survey not being completed.
A representative sample of the primary on-site soil being utilized for fill placement was obtained and transported to the laboratory for testing. An additional sample of the imported soil was collected to evaluate the presence and quantity of organic material content. Concerns had been expressed by the grading contractor regarding the suitability of the imported soil for use on the project.
At the time of this site visit, no grading activities were being performed due to the unavailability of on-road dump trucks. Three in-place density tests were performed using a Troxler 3430 (refer to attached density report). No additional observations were made during this visit.
