Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe sub grade conditions for the deceleration lane class B tapered end. The grading contractor removed washed silt and saturated surface materials prior to the concrete pour. The writer also stood by and observed the curb contractor form up for class B tapered end pour and type 7 continuing curb pour for the deceleration lane. The contractor poured 12 cubic yards of 4000 psi concrete mix at the tapered end and at the exit radius curb.

The writer also met with the grading contractor at the bridge approach observing the constructed crane pad which is planned for 60′ x 40′. The subgrade was observed by probing using a rounded end steel rod which indicated saturated surface materials within the top one foot. It was recommended to allow surface materials to continue aerating and drying until the remaining bridge walls are poured then reobserve and make necessary repairs either by undercutting and replacing or recompacting after drying.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
