Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
On the above date our representative was on site and met with the grading contractor and pipeline contractor to discuss backfill crossing the gas line. The gas contractor requested to limit weight and vibrating equipment over the existing gas line. The writer recommended placing a three feet to four feet thickened lift over the pipe line and static roll in-place fill using the onsite sheep-foot roller. After placing the thickened lift and static compacting the remaining fill should be placed in 10″ to 12″ loose lifts and also compacted with a static roller making sufficient passes to achieve required percent compaction which should be observed by an ASEC technician. Note: placing the thickened lift will require using drier than optimum fill soils after removing vegetation grass and organics.
The writer also remained onsite to observe placement of bridge steel structural beams which was canceled to complete drilling of anchor holes.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
