Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the paving contractor perform subbase preparation for the deceleration lane at Seven Hills Boulevard and the drive roadway to building lots using a loaded tandem dump truck having over 18 tons.  Proof-rolling was performed for the in place subbase stone. The proof-roll was also observed with other members from Paulding County, J &W Paving and Thompson Grading. The subbase appeared stable under traffic except one small, isolated area (12′ x 20′) located at the exit drive having utility lines in place. Recommendation made was to clip repair the area -2″ and replace with additional 25mm asphalt base mix. The subbase proof-roll and repair recommendation was accepted by the county official with approval for asphalt paving.

The writer also observed the blasting contractor continue drilling rock for the on-site detention pond. See attached drill log.
