Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Roadway sub grade proof rolling was performed using a loaded tandem-axle dump truck carrying approximately 18.56 tons of GAB material. During the proof-roll operation, I observed the roadway sub grade for signs of excessive deflection, rutting, pumping, or yielding under the loaded truck. No significant unstable or soft areas were observed, and the sub grade appeared firm and acceptable at the time of inspection.
Following proof rolling, loose and disturbed material was removed, and the roadway surface was compacted using a smooth-drum roller. It was noted that an insufficient number of grade stakes were available; therefore, the final sub grade elevation and grade could not be fully verified at all locations.
At the future lot areas, the crew continued fill placement operations. Fill material was delivered using articulated dump trucks, spread and leveled in lifts using a crawler bulldozer, and compacted using a sheep foot roller. I observed the placement and compaction activities and performed in-place density testing on the compacted fill at selected locations. The density test results met the required compaction criteria at the locations tested.
