Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Observed proof-rolling of the GAB roadways using a loaded tandem-axle dump truck. No severe movement, rutting, or pumping was observed during proof-rolling over the tested area. However, at the east-side corner near the roadway entrance adjacent to the curb, an area of soft, moisture-saturated subgrade was identified where standing water had accumulated. It was recommended to undercut and remove the unsuitable material over an approximate area measuring 25 to 28 feet in length, 7 to 9 feet in width, and 4 to 6 inches in depth. Re-compact the exposed subgrade to firm and stable soils, then backfill/compact the excavation with additional GAB.
