Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
On the above date the writer was on site to observe the grading contractor Thompson continue placing fill at Seven Hills phase 13 roadway continuing on Shelly Boulevard next to the detention pond. Density tests were performed using a Troxler Nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 91643. Compaction results met job specifications after additional compacting efforts were performed. The fill placement was observed between B6 ST JB and B5 ST JB.
The writer also observed subgrade preparation proof rolling of existing subgrade soils for the roadway from Colonial Pipe gas lines to the cul-de-sac. Most areas observed had slight to moderate movement under traffic of a tandem dump truck loaded with 18.34 tons of base stone. Most areas were recommended to clip 4 inches of saturated in-place fill soils and replace with additional base stone except near Lots #33 and 34 where the subgrade appeared stable under traffic.
The writer assisted in performing density testing at the bridge abutment backfill being observed by another technician from ASEC. Compaction results were in compliance with job specifications.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
