Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Upon arrival at the site, the crew was observed performing earthwork and fill placement activities at Lots #6, 8, 10, 12, and 15. Fill material was placed within the designated lot areas and spread evenly using a crawler bulldozer to maintain a relatively uniform lift thickness prior to compaction.
Following placement and grading of the fill material, the crew compacted the areas using a sheep-foot roller. Multiple passes were made over the placed fill.
After completion of the initial compaction operations, density testing was performed at the designated test locations to verify the compaction of the placed fill material. The majority of the density test locations met the required compaction criteria; however, two test locations initially failed to achieve the specified compaction requirements.
The crew subsequently reworked and recompacted the areas associated with the failed density tests using the sheep-foot roller. After the additional compaction effort was completed, density retests were performed at the previously failed locations. The retest results met the required compaction criteria. At the completion of testing, all tested areas achieved the required compaction.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
