Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
On the above date our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor Thompson continue placing rock fill at building Lot #25. The contractor was observed end dumping rock fill and pushing over a thickened lift at the east side building line. It was recommended to the contractor again that rockfill should be placed in lifts according to size of rocks which should not be boulders exceeding 24″ in diameter at deep elevations with soil fill layer placed over the rockfill layer to fill in voids and allow sufficient compacting efforts with a sheep-foot roller. Additional compaction efforts using the loaded off-road dump truck is also recommended. It was also recommended that all fills should be compacted extending at least ten feet outside of building perimeter. The contractor stopped fill placement and bladed oversized lifts down to the recommended depths. It was also recommended to the contractor that a rock hammer should be utilized to break boulders to specified diameters of 8″.
The blasting contractor made a shot today at building Lots #15, 14 and 13 blasting hard rock.
The pipe contractor Savannah continued backfill around storm manhole B5 ST-JB.
The pipe contractor also continued installing 24″ and pushing 12 DIP sanitary sewer line through casing and connected to east side of bridge manhole structure #1.
The curbing contractor J&W poured approximately 420 lineal feet of type 7 curbing at NatureWalk Parkway between sanitary sewer manholes #3 and 2. Also poured one inlet throat at Unit 4 phase 2.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
