Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
On the above date our representative observed the paving contractor NWGP begin paving for the east side of bridge to west side of the roundabout. The contractor completed paving at the east and west side of bridge placing 259.02 tons of 19mm super pave w/lime w7rap on today. The writer observed paving beginning after 9:00 am after air temperatures reached 45 degrees (and rising). The temperature of trucks with hot mix were observed to be at 320, 310, 300 and 325 degrees. The contractor used a traffic roller for breakdown compacting and a smaller double drum vibratory steel roller for additional compacting efforts. The writer also performed density checks using a Troxler Nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 91643 on the binder mix placed today. The results were 133.6, 136.8, 136.2, 138.4 and 136.6 pcf. The writer recommended performing asphalt coring for laboratory testing for today’s placement and previous areas of placements to verify compaction results.
The writer observed the grading contractor continue to de-muck the detention pond at Unit 4, Phase 2.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
