Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (NG Grading) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill.

The pipe crew installed storm line to approximately AA-14. This area consisted of a large quantity of PWR present in the backfill material. As previously recommended, the contractors mixed a finer structural fill material into the PWR during backfill. This area was visually inspected, and probe-rodded to check the stability of the area. Our representative was unable to drive the nuclear density gauge pin into the ground in this location due to the large amount of rock present. Backfill was placed in approximate 1.5 foot to 2-foot lifts due to rock size and was compacted with a combination of a trench roller and a large sheep-foot roller.

The grading crew began placing soil lifts with a large quantity of PWR across the previously excavated slope area of Lots #19 through 22. The contractor placed lifts approximately 1 foot thick and compacted with an 815 sheep-foot roller. ASEC watched as loaded off road trucks rolled across the lift to check stability. There were no signs of severe pumping or deflection present at this time.
