Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor, Thompson excavate to subgrade for the deceleration lane on Seven Hills Boulevard to Seven Hills Phase 13. The subgrade was undercut -25″ below top of existing curbing to (down to residual materials) which were suitable for required compaction. The in-place materials were observed by probing using a rounded end steel rod that were also observed by the Paulding County official Mr. Mike Kenner who approved the results. During excavation, utility fiber lines were uncovered and were excavated around to prevent damage. Due to the size of the excavation and utilities in place it was recommended not to proof-roll subgrade soils with possibilities of damaging utilities. The approximately linear feet observed and approved today was 120 feet with recommendation to place base stone 12″ in depth pushing across utilities and the subgrade being careful not to damage the utilities.  Also, the tapered end requiring class B concrete was agreed to be placed full depth.
