Observations/Finding

On the above date, an AS Engineering and Consulting, LLC (ASEC) representative visited the site at the contractor’s request to observe excavation and subgrade preparation activities associated with the airfield repair work at Taxiway Golf, specifically along the slope on the north side of Taxiway Golf, in accordance with the project drawings and specifications.

Prior to excavation, the contractor marked the limits of the proposed work area. The contractor then performed grading and excavation to an approximate depth of 36 inches for construction of the proposed concrete drainage structure and associated drain pipe along the north slope of Taxiway Golf.

Excavated soil was removed from the work area using a tandem-axle dump truck. Following excavation, the exposed subgrade was leveled and compacted using a trench compactor in preparation for subsequent construction activities.

No density testing was reported as being performed by ASEC during these activities on this date.
