Construction Activities Monitoring Report
As requested, an ASEC representative visited the project site from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM to provide quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and approved material submittals.
Site Observations
Grading & Erosion Control
-
The grading contractor was resurfacing the slope/erosion control area in preparation for greenery installation in the coming days.
-
Activities were ongoing during the morning period behind Lots #7, 8, 9, 10, and 11.
-
The material used for grading contained debris and tree roots. ASEC recommended that such materials should not be used in the slope area. The contractor responded that the material was intended for use in the greenery area and elected to use them.
Embankment Fill
-
Embankment fill was in progress behind Lots #15 and 16 for slope preparation.
-
A compaction test was conducted, and results passed the specified project requirements.
-
The fill material contained large rocks. ASEC recommended that these rocks either be broken down or removed before placement.
-
Embankment fill was also ongoing in Lots #17 and 18, where the final 2 ft lift to subgrade level was being prepared.
-
A compaction test was performed, and results are included in the field density section of this report.
-
Large boulders were observed in the material but were removed by the contractor as per ASEC technician’s recommendation.
Drilling Operations
-
Drilling operations were carried out by Advance Explosive Company for Lot #25.
-
Holes were drilled at approximately 7 ft × 7 ft spacing using a 3.5-inch bit.
-
Depth checks were performed randomly and verified against the drill operator’s log sheet.
