Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Crew 1 began work at locations B2–B3. The crew excavated the soil to the required depth and dimensions to accommodate the proposed manhole and storm pipe installation. A manhole was installed at B2 and connected to the existing CMP by inserting the pipe into the inlet of the manhole and aligning it to the required grade. From the manhole outlet, storm pipe installation continued in the north direction for approximately 39 feet using 24-inch diameter pipe. All pipe and manhole connections were sealed with concrete. Upon completion of the pipe installation, backfill material was placed around the manhole and pipe in lifts, and each lift was compacted.

At the same time, Crew 2 continued work at location A3. The crew proceeded with backfilling operations around the previously installed structure by placing soil in lifts of approximately 6–8 inches. Each lift was compacted using a sheep-foot roller to achieve the required density. Backfilling activities were continued until the fill reached the required design elevation, completing the backfilling at this location in accordance with project specifications.

Meanwhile, Crew 3 began work at location F1. The crew excavated the soil to the required depth and placed gravel bedding at the bottom of the excavation. A manhole was then installed and connected to the existing pipe. From the manhole, a storm pipe was installed in the southwest direction extending toward location F2. The gaps between the manhole and the pipe connections were sealed with concrete. Following installation, backfill material was placed around the manhole and pipe in controlled lifts and compacted.
