Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
The crew installed a new manhole at point D2 and aligned it with the existing corrugated metal pipe (CMP) coming from point D1. The connection between the CMP and the newly installed manhole was sealed using mortar. After alignment and sealing were completed, No. 57 stone was placed around the pipe and manhole as backfill. Suitable soil materials were then placed above the stone in lifts, and each lift was compacted using a double-drum roller.
Crew continued work between points W1 and W2. The existing ductile iron pipe (DIP) inside manhole W1 was cut to facilitate the new alignment and connections. Manhole risers were then installed on top of the existing manholes to adjust the structures to the required finished elevation. After completing the structural work, the trench box was removed. Backfilling operations were performed using No. 57 stone around the manhole and pipe, followed by placement of graded aggregate base (GAB) as the final layer. All backfill materials were compacted using a double-drum roller and Jumping jack compactor.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
