Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day:

Area 1:
Topsoil was removed from the designated location. At the owner’s request, excavation was halted in the area where the proposed drain was to be installed due to the presence of structural straps attached to the existing wall. Per the owner’s direction, no underground drain will be installed along this wall.

The west side of Area 1 was prepared for future placement of GAB (Graded Aggregate Base).

Area 4:
Excavation commenced for the trench required to install a future drain along the wall. Temporary straps attached to the existing wall were encountered during excavation. According to AtlNext, these straps are temporary, and work proceeded as planned.

Excavated soil was stockpiled nearby. A soil sample was collected and delivered to the ASEC laboratory for testing.

Runway Area:
ABC Contractors performed coring operations around the existing runway centerline lights.

Installation of sheet piles into the ground has begun.

No further observations were made.
