Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was onsite to observe the grading contractor Thompson blade off saturated in place fill soils (at Seven Hills phase 13) and begin replacing with suitable drier materials. The writer observed the removed saturated soils by probing to suitable compacted fill materials. The writer also observed the beginning of the replacement fill.

The curbing contractor continued forming and pouring curbs and throats for the roadway. The writer observed reinforcing steel placement at curb throats which appeared to be in compliance with job specifications for rebar size, spacing and quantity.

The grading contractor also continued hammering rock at the detention pond and placing rock fill for the embankment slope.

The wall contractor (RWS) began backfilling at the outside dead man footing wall.  Our representative observed fill placement being compacted using a vibratory sheep-foot roller between +3 and +5 feet of placed fill. The fill was probed using a rounded end steel rod and appeared suitable for the compaction requirements of 95%.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
