Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative observed the curbing contractor continue subbase preparation for the east side exit drive from the bridge abutment pouring curbing using a 3000-psi concrete mix.

The writer also observed the grading contractor Thompson continued subgrade preparation at the roadway to Unit 4, Phase 2 after a rain event 10/04/26. The contractor bladed the subgrade and compacted using a vibratory sheep-foot roller. The contractor also continued fine grading and subgrade preparation at the amenity parking lot.

The pipe contractor Savannah installed electrical conduit crossing roadway to Unit 4, Phase 2. The curbing was severely damaged requiring repairing and additional compacting efforts.

The electrical contractor Mastec was on site today and began installing electrical conduits at Unit 4, Phase 1A. The writer observed the excavation and reminded the contractor that compacting efforts were recommended. The contractor stated he’s using the backhoe excavator to track in for compaction. This response will be mentioned to our client.
